Welcome Guests

We are glad that you are visiting our webpage and hope you will come and visit our beautiful church and people soon. We pray that God will encounter you in a worship service in a powerful and meaningful way. May you find in him all that you need for life. The following information will assist you. Sometimes the Lutheran order of worship is confusing to guests.

Worship Services

Our contemporary Worship Service begins at 8:15am and our Traditional Worship Service begins at 10:30am. The worship services are printed in the bulletin, found just inside the doors, an usher will make sure you get a bulletin and someone will be there to greet you. Large Print Bulletins are available from the usher as well as Children’s Bulletins.

Restrooms

Restrooms are located just off the lobby of the educational building to the west of the sanctuary.

Nursery

The nursery is located on the top floor of the education building and is staffed at both worship services. However, we enjoy having children in worship and encourage them to worship with you.

Holy Communion

We serve Holy Communion on the first and third Sundays of the month. All baptized Christians who believe in the real presence of Jesus in the bread and wine are invited to receive Holy Communion. We instruct children in the Fifth Grade about the meaning of Holy Communion and they receive their first communion that year. However, if your child has already received his or her First Communion in your home congregation, please know that they are welcome to receive it here.

If you are not baptized or feel uncomfortable receiving Holy Communion, we still invite you to come forward to receive a blessing. If you leave your hands at your side the pastor and communion assistant will know that you desire a blessing. To signal that you would like to receive Holy Communion, cup your hands in front of you.

You may choose to receive the blood of Jesus as either the red wine or the white grape juice.

The method of distribution at the 8:15 Contemporary Worship Service is usually a large circle (or sometimes a double circle) around the center pews. At the 10:30 Traditional Service the ushers will escort you to either the front or the back of the church to receive it as a group.

If you put your name and address of your church on the Golden Rod Registration Sheet (found in your bulletin), we will mail your record of communion to your home congregation. Church members need to mark that they are receiving communion only one time in a single year.

Sunday School

Our Sunday School is from 9:15am to 10:15am and we have classes for all ages. The children’s classes are located on the top floor of the educational building and the adult classes are located throughout the building. Ask a member to direct you.

Pastor Doug Pretorius is always glad to talk with you about any concerns or needs that you might have. You may call him at the church office Tuesday through Friday mornings at 419-886-3521 and messages may be left at the church office at any time.
